Mark Kennard

Dr. Mark Kennard brings more than 25 years of experience developing new products based on novel materials. The early part of his career was focused on equipment and process development in Silicon Valley. Mark worked on advanced microprocessor and memory applications at both leading equipment suppliers, Lam Research and Applied Materials. At Soitec, he established a CVD center of excellence that ultimately achieved the highest quality CVD SiGe on Si substrates. Mark developed the process and installed the equipment used to make a novel and bondable InGaN epitaxial films for high brightness LEDs, and also led the development and launch of the first Bonded Silicon on Sapphire used for advanced rf switch applications. He has extensive experience with deposition process and equipment including SiC, GaN, GaAs, Si and SiGe.
Mark’s professional experience is extensive. He has held senior leadership positions (C-level and Vice President) at several high-tech companies. He is the author or co-author of 12 patents and more than 30 journal articles.
Mark obtained his BS in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University specializing in the synthesis of new materials and the characterization of high temperature superconductors.
