New Analysis Highlights the Transformative Potential of HTS
By some estimates, in order to meet net-zero goals by 2050, the global grid will need to double in size. With a gap this substantial, there’s a clear need for advanced technologies. A new white paper from Guidehouse Insights explores advanced conductors and the critical role they can play in facilitating grid expansion, offshore wind transmission, EV fleet charging, and more.

Superconductors: Solving the Grid Build-out Challenge
With so many competing pressures facing our power grid, it’s clear we need more tangible solutions, and we need them fast. Advanced technologies like HTS are already being deployed across the globe to deliver more power, more efficiently and they have a significant role to play in addressing some of the biggest problems facing grid operators, clean energy developers, and utilities here in the US.
New Solutions to Our Grid Woes
"Conventional wisdom says we need a massive transmission system upgrade of poles and wires to add enough renewable energy to meet our climate goals. However, it's clear our old solution set won't be enough to address the size and scale of today's problems. High-temperature superconducting (HTS) wires, like Xeus wire, are designed specifically to transmit very high power at very low voltage, all with near-zero electrical or heat loss.”
